Q: Bluetooth pairing

I can't pair my iPhone 5s with my macbook air from 2012 on bluetooth! I get a message "unsupported device". Anyone any idea?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.1.3

The iPhone and the MacBook Air are not designed to connect via Bluetooth. If you are trying to take advantage of continuity, then Bluetooth just needs to be turned on and the two devices in proximity of each other, not paired. The only time you would actually pair is for Personal Hotspot.

You cannot, not via Bluetooth. You can use Airdrop. All that requires is that Bluetooth be turned on, not paired.See this support document. Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices - Apple Support
