Anchors not working on iPhone

Hi, I've checked out other threads on this but non of the solutions seem to be working for me.

Here's my link

<li><a href="#contact">contact</a></li>

then I have <div id="contact"> at the point I want to jump to.

It works fine in all browsers apart from on my iPhone with Safari.

I've tried adding an absolute url as suggested on other threads e.g.

<li><a href="http://www.mydomain.com/index.html#contact">contact</a></li>

or <li><a href="http://www.mydomain.com/index.html/#contact">contact</a></li>

But these seem to stop the anchor from work at all in all other browsers!

Can anyone please advise on this, I'm desperate to find a fix for this.
