After automatic upgrade to OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 my Canon i9900 large photo printer will not print. Message states go to Canon and get software. Canon states not available??? Am I now a dinosaur?

Hi, sorry to say there are no Canon i9900 available for Yosemite all you can do is make connect your printer to the pc and use whatever drivers are preinstalled in the operating system
There is an alternate printer driver package called Gutenprint (it used to be included with OS X) and it lists your i9900 as a supported printer.
Note that some users have had quality issues with Gutenprint so if you find the same there is another driver package called PrintFab which also supports the i9900. And PrintFab is not free like Gutenprint.
Canon has decided to drop support for this great printer all together.
Not only are they not updating drivers for OS X, they have dropped
support in Win8/8.1 as well.
Canon wants to sell new printers and not support old ones!!!!!!!!
Thank you. I will investigate both. It sound like only a matter of time before Canon bails out on the ink cartridges too.

Yes, which is far enough given that the i9900 was released in 2004. Not sure how long people expect companies to keep providing support. Judging by the reply above it seems that some expect Canon to keep supporting this model, even though Apple won't let you install Yosemite on a 10 year old Mac.
