If you're referring to when you use AppleCare via phone rather than going to a store (where you'd have to ship your phone to Apple for repair), they do have a deal called express replacement service. It's where they ship you a replacement phone immediately and then once it arrives you ship back the defective phone (this way you aren't without a phone, assuming it's an issue where you can still use it while it has the defect, like a display issue).

The catch is that you have to have AppleCare (I don't think it has to be +, but I might be wrong.. I think you can use this service as long as you're still within the one year warranty). And you have to put a hold on your credit card in case you don't ship back the defective phone. It's the full cost of the iPhone, so we're talking around $800. It's just a hold though, so once you ship back within ten days you're good.
