I just got a brand-new mid-2014 Macbook pro. There have now been 2-3 instances where the computer freezes. The screen is unchanged and unresponsive to any trackpad or keyboard input. Have tried command-period, option-command-escape with no luck. Only holding down the power button and restarting it gets it out of this state. I am running OS 10.10.2. Any ideas?

Hi. Did you get any kind of a message or did it just freeze? One thing to take note of is what task you were running when it happened. This is helpful in determining what caused it.Also go to activity monitor in utilities and check all processes. then look for something running in memory or cpu that is using to much resources. There is no message at all. I'm not sure I can visualize the mouse. I'm not sure if the computer itself is frozen or if there seems to be a total inability to receive inputs. It does not seem as though the computer is getting overloaded, and when I had previously checked activity monitor things appeared fine.
Hi. You could still run Etrecheck, but I think I would take Link's advise. If you are with in the 90 day and use the tech support from apple.
