Black Desktop/Screen Issue (EtreCheck result included)

Problem description:

I have my system set to require a login at boot to best replicate the error I see. When the system boots, the progress bar appears, goes about 25% of the way, screen goes black and mouse is visible. Mouse becomes active when moved (within a second or two), screen goes back to progress bar then login appears, sometimes the progress bar along with apple sign stays visible over the login for a second or two at a low opacity. When I login this way, the desktop immediately appears.

I have the monitor set to go to sleep at one minute with the screen saver at 20. It seems that the first three times it goes to sleep all works ok, but then after that when the screen goes to sleep and I click the mouse or key to bring it back active, its a blank screen with just the mouse pointer (just like at boot, mouse will move and if I click it there is a beep). This generally lasts for about 15 seconds but has lasted at times over a minute with an average ‘long period’ of 30 seconds.
