Q: How can I update my iMac?

Over the last ~1 year I haven't been able to successfully load updates to my 2008 Intel iMac? When I attempt to do so, I get a response: First restart your computer prior to updating. Quite the reverse of 'normal' update procedures. Rarely in the past (but never now) I was able to successfully update if I listed details of update before

updating. Any comments appreciated.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues updating your iMac.
