Q: iPhone can't browse the net.

How can I get to a web page on iPhone 5? When I open Safari and type in the space at the top a search like Google or Yahoo, it just sits for a while and then says. "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding".

iPhone 5, iOS 7.1.1

    Hi, bill299.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I understand that you are unable to use Safari on your iPhone.  I would need more information on if this issue is happening with internet based applications to provide a better answer.  However, start with clearing Safari data.

    Clear information from your device

To clear your history and cookies from Safari in iOS 8, tap Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Clear History and tap Clear Cookies and Data.

To clear other stored information from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > Remove All Website Data.

Safari web settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you are unable to use the internet on your device, try the troubleshooting steps in the articles below.

Hi Jason. Thanks for answering and offering your help. The updating you suggested worked. I think it was a reset Network Settings that didi it.

I felt that since we have 2 identical phones bought at the same time. Updated, etc. all along the way at the same times. My wife's phone was working just fine on the same Wi-Fi. I just felt when going to Apple this kind of constant trouble shooting would not be necessary. Pipe dream, I guess

Thank you again. Your response is helpful. More so since my AppleCare on the phones is over.
