When I go into the Phone App on my Iphone 6 I only see Recents, Keypad and Voicemail at the bottom. I used to see Favorites, Recents, Contacts, Keypad and Voicemail. Favorites and Contacts are missing.
I still have the regular Contacts app and can see my contacts are in there so the issue is just related to the phone app.

Try resetting your iPhone. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

If the reset does not cure the issue, check Settings > General > Usage and make sure your available storage is at least 15% or so of your total storage.
Thanks...I new it wasn't lost as I could search for names within it but no icon...when in doubt...shake the apple tree or reboot...starting to sound like a Microsoft mantra.
