Q: Keychain, a disaster waiting to happen

Keychain gives the impression of being a disaster waiting to happen. How do I get rid of it altogether?

Keychain is an integrated utility that cannot be removed. You can choose not to use it if you wish, by changing your Safari Settings.

I've been using it for as long as it has existed (something like 15 years); I have yet to witness any disasters.

That may be Barney-15E but the need to repeatedly enter password after password on a brand new machine running Yosemite is rendering this computer next to useless in my work environment. I may well put it to one side and revert to an older machine.

Try running Keychain Access/First Aid and resetting the original keychain.

You installation is broken. I haven't entered a password in years.

Eric provided some good things to start with.

If those don't resolve the issue, reinstall the OS.
