When trying to set up ethernet, there is no option

When I try to set up ethernet, I go to the plus sign. Then, when it is telling me to choose my service, ethernet is not showing up. Also when I press assist me, and then diagnostics, I cannot select the ethernet option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
