Why does the Belkin 4K Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter not make sound on the tv?

I connected my cable to my tv and it displays on the tv just fine but no sound comes from the tv only the laptop. What do i need to do?

You have provided no useful information to help other users help you on your problem, we have no idea what iMac you have or the version of OS X installed on it. Without those barest of details getting an answer is difficult at best.
