Increasingly frequent SBBOD

Hello,

24-inch, early 2009 iMac (OS X 10.9.5) experiencing increasingly frequent SBBOD during any activity. Sometimes it clears, sometimes I have to power off/restart to fix. Wondering if it is due to repairable errors or if hard drive is failing and needs replaced. Disk Verification indicates no errors. EtreCheck report included.

Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512 MB

Thank you for help.

If this started happening without your having made any changes and without a warning of low disk space, then it's likely that the startup drive, or some other hardware component, is failing. Back up all data immediately, then make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.

That Mac's hard disk has failed and requires replacement. They cannot be repaired, other than temporarily, for the purposes of creating a backup. The report you posted indicates a recent Time Machine backup exists.

If you decide to restore its content from the Time Machine backup, uninstall Trusteer Rapport. Your Mac cannot operate properly with it installed.
