Q: iPod touch 4th gen 8GB - memory full with 2 apps (4.25GB)?, 9 songs (73.8MB), 33 pics (1.09GB) and the mysterious other (998.5 MB)

My wife's 4th gen iPod keeps kicking her off of Safari, Facebook (app), and Words With Friends (app) and Weather.com (when she still had the weather app on her iPod). In an effort to clear up memory on the iPod we deleted the Weather app and Pintrest. The problem is the iPod is an 8GB ipod and the bar in iTunes that says how much space she's used is maxed out at 6.4GB.

Any ideas what caused this issue?

Any ideas how to resolve this issue without losing my wife's pictures and videos of the kids?

Any idea why the iPod would think Facebook and Word's With Friends apps should be taking up 4.25GB on my wife's iPod?
