Q: I just purchased another film for my iPad, it's telling me I have insufficient space. How do I delete certain items I have purchased from iTunes, such as films, to allow more storeage...also if I do delete these films will I be able to re claim them

My iPad keeps telling me I need to manage my storage BUT I don't know how to. I have managed to use back up onto the iCloud, but it still tells me I have to manage my storage. How do I do this. Someone mentioned that because I have 3 films already downloaded onto the iPad I have used a lot of storage. They have also said if I delete the films already purchasediTunes remembers these and when I want to watch them at a furture date I will be able to!

As you have probably already gathered I am not a very competant user and I would welcome some advice PLEASE

Go to settings->general->usage  Under storage choose manage storage. Then under videos you can swipe an item right-to-left to bring up a "delete" option. Anything purchased from iTunes or the App stores can be re-downloaded later, but IBooks from the iBook store cannot as they are only downloadable once, when purchased (so be sure to sync them to your computer before deleting an iBook).

My iPad will not sync due to too little space being available. When I reduce space by de-selecting music, videos, photos, etc, to sync, there is still a portion called "Other", I have no idea, where this "Other" data is located in order to reduce it's size. How do I find it?

iCloud doesn't backup the actual films, it backs up your purchase history:

iCloud: iCloud storage and backup overview

You can only re download items if they are still available in the App Store.

Books can be downloaded again (it is audiobooks which are a once-only download).

Your best bet is to transfer all purchases to iTunes on your computer, before deleting items from iPad.

YYeah, sorry Lor1956. When I siad iBooks cannot be re-downloaded, I was thinking of audiobooks actually.

p.s. The reason apps and purchased content is not in your backup is that it simply makes the backup unnecessarily large. Since those items are aavailable from your purchase history, it's pointless to add them to the backup file and waste space (especially if you are backing up to your free, but limited iCloud storage space). You can always keep app installers and other purchased content backed up on your own computer, in iTunes, if you wish to
