Mar 4, 2015 1:18 PM in response to OGELTHORPEby Modern Intelligence,Okay, so I booted in recovery partition (Command + R) disk utilities> selected Macintosh in top corner> verify disk>repair disk. Then I rebooted my computer and logged in to admin account. My mac still freezes up when I try to open an application.

Mar 4, 2015 2:00 PM in response to Modern Intelligenceby my ginger,Does it freeze as in the only way out is a restart? Do you get the prompt that tells you to restart? There are thing you can do in safe mode. You can un check startup items ,delete some apps that might be causing problems. Check for any adware installed by looking in your browser extensions.

Mar 4, 2015 3:34 PM in response to Modern Intelligenceby OGELTHORPE,You said that in safe boot the MBP runs satisfactorily. In a normal boot you are experiencing the slow application opening. Often that is a sign that a third party application is causing difficulties. Yhe normal approach is to delete all third party applications and reinstall them in a systematic manner that will allow you to find the culprit.
Ciao.

Download and post an Etrecheck report. That may provide a clue:

Run an Apple Hardware Test:

Note that an error free AHT is not definitive.
