Do not RAID your Boot Drive.
The hatter has some really good suggestions for using a PCIe card-mounted SSD drive for a Boot Drive.
well its not the boot drives we bought a SANS digital tower with 8 beys and we have 4 4TB hdd's to add to it
Does that enclosure support drives over 2.2TB at their full size? Many do not.
you know what that is a great question i assumed it does since it is a tower built for RAID but let me check really quick
What is it connected to? PCIe SATA III card I assume.
RAID10 with Apple Disk Utility? old and not good candidate. Or does the SANS case have dip switch to set RAID mode? some are 0,1,5 only.
If you want software I think the only game in town is
http://www.softraid.com at this point
yeah installed a RAID card into the mac and the tower uses the High endpoint utility to set the RAID , the mac sees 2 of the extra but when i turn on the 3rd it shows then goes into a boot reloop, some suggested that i need yosimite OS for it to work while others say a RAID 10 on a mac pro 2010 is almost impossible
RAID10 is iffy, but then Highpoint is or can be also - and HP is usually the weakest link.
miniSAS interface? Port Multiplier? saying HP to me needs to be which one etc. Sorry.
And I assumed you used Apple DU, not HP utility and drivers.
Also, have a look at http://www.macgurus.com at their RAID controllers and setup with Burly
yes miniSAS interface
