Safari is downloading pictures automatically
When I open a new website, safari is downloading some pictures from the website. I deleted all adware already. Do you know what is going on?
THX in advance.

Thank you for your reply. I tried this tool already.
May you have an additional idea... Sometimes the pictures are downloaded contemporaneous with opening a new website. Sometimes when my "mouse pointer" is moving on a picture only...

All websites, or just one?
Some, not all. Apple e.g. is not affected. Ebay is. I have really no idea what is happening. And I am more a heavy user... 😕
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
Thank you for the reply. I turned them off. Unfortunately the picture upload is still going on... I only used Ember or 1Password...

We need a better description of the problem. You load an ebay page, and immediately Safari starts downloading the images on that page to your Downloads folder? And this happens with some other sites, but not all?
E.g.
a) I am loading www.spiegel.de (on of the most important newspaper in Germany) and immediately a "pixel-2.gif" is downloaded by safari. I turned of all extensions in the preferences. I have already used http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/unsolved.php.
b) Opening an eBay auction. When moving (not clicking!) the mouse over the picture of the offered product, immediately all of the pictures of the product are downloaded.
Do you have an idea?
Thank you in advance!
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
Hi,
thank you for the clear guidance! I tested my system accordingly. Unfortunately the problem hasn´t disappeared after testing the Steps 1 and 2. It was still valid in every Step.
May you another idea?
Thank you for your time investment!

Back up all data.
From the menu bar, select
▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If any proxy options are selected, make a note of them and then deselect them. You don’t need to change the bypass or FTP settings. Click OK and then Apply. Test. The result may be that you can't connect to any web server. Restore the previous settings if that happens.
I am a bit concerned now, that the problem is still unsolved...
I tried it, but I have to say, that now proxy option was/is selected. That means I don´t have something to change...
May you have another idea? Do I need further virus detection software?
Thanks in advance.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon, usually with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.
Wow! Ok. I will try it at the weekend.
