Q: email saying to change my Apple Id

I received an email saying to change my login ID from AOL.com to an Apple one.  When I sign into my account there is no indication that i need to do this.

It does not lead me to any on-screen instructions.

Thank you

Many folks have expressed a bit of confusion... my understanding is that they all have in common = more than one AppleID with AOL ScreenName version as one of them

see if this article's brief statement helps [emphasis is mine]

Convert your AOL Username to an Apple ID - Apple Support

To convert your AOL Username to an Apple ID, sign in to iTunes on a Mac or PC with your AOL Username. Then follow the on-screen instructions.
Your new Apple ID will maintain your access to the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store, as well as all of the content you bought using your AOL Username. You can also use your Apple ID with iCloud and other Apple services.

you may be using your regular AppleID to try this?
