iphone 4 restarts when im trying to lock it up

when im starting my phone its say slide when i have slide the whole iphone restarts and the apple logo comes upand how do i reset my iphone so that problem goes away when i have find my iphone

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2

Did you try to set the phone back to factory settings?

Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
