Cannot connect to apple store - pending

Hello everybody,

After receiving a Mac Book Air as a gift I tried to download several applications from the apple store. I have an apple account and I logged in before on different devices but on this Mac I cannot. I enter my password and my username correctly and all it happens is a waiting process and after that nothing. I guess I'm not the only person facing this problem. Please help!
