Running windows 7 on a Dell laptop with docking station connecting to thunderbolt display using a mini display port DVI adapter. Windows machine will not detect the display. Any ideas?
No - a Thunderbolt display won't work with a mini-Displayport source, even though the cable will fit.

No. The ThunderBolt cable from the TB monitor must be connected to a ThunderBolt port in order to work.
