Feb 24, 2015 4:13 PM in response to dmac2097by LaPastenague,★HelpfulTo change channel the TC must be set to create a wireless network.. and with 6121 modem (which is a problematic model) you should be setup in router mode.
For it to fail you are probably using Yosemite. Are you?? You are showing Lion on the profile.
If you are having issues with wireless and need to set the wireless to a specific channel.. try changing just one.. eg 2.4ghz.. which is much the more significant.
Use an ipad or iphone running the iOS version of the airport utility is another way around the issue.
Make sure the computer has ipv6 set to link-local only for wireless adapter.

Feb 24, 2015 4:45 PM in response to LaPastenagueby LaPastenague,★HelpfulI forgot to also say if you are setting up wireless over wireless.. it is akin to sawing off the branch you are sitting on.. any change you make in a currently used wireless connection will result in the TC failing to respond.
Who knows the changes could have worked but you handled the change wrongly.
That is where you do a full network reboot..
Shut down everything.. order of shutdown is irrelevant.
Start up in order.. Modem.. wait 2min.. TC.. wait 2min.. computer.. once it boots then check if your setting worked or not.

Feb 24, 2015 5:00 PM in response to LaPastenagueby dmac2097,Wifi network is set up and modem is in router mode. Everything is working Ok now, however have been dealing with intermittent drops in connection for the last month and a 1/2 or so (frusterating). I been doing my best to trouble shoot exactly what the issue is. I replaced the TC once already, replaced the original SB6183 with another SB6183, & today decided to buy the older version -SB6121 to see if that would be more compatible with TC and ISP (comcast). No other real ISP options in my area as Comcast owns the Cables. Want to get on a low(er) traffic 2.4 ghz channel just to see if that could be causing some of the drops in wifi connection. I downloaded Airport utility for iPhone 6 and tried to change channel using iOS version - no luck, timed out, reset TC to reestablish network. Got Lion off "about this mac" in terms of version I'm running. I'm a novice so not sure what ipv6 is, but did find where I could change it from "automatic" to "link only". Would like to understand why that would be a good move vs. just leaving on the default (automatic). Thanks for the help.

Sorry but I do not think that is possible.. this is not a router .. it has just one ethernet port and is a pure cable modem.. If that is not the case feel free to correct me.. but if it was a router then the TC should be in bridge.. I doubt this is possible.
Or if you do the connection will fail.

The auto setup will work fine if you have lots of wireless traffic in the area.. the TC will simply pick the best channel.. however that does not mean it can find one that is not overused.

Because Apple says so. The airport utility is now fully dependent on IPv6 working correctly and auto does not work properly in any Apple version as far as I can see.. at least having it wrong gives the error message apple says is caused by wrong setting of IPv6.
I do think you have an issue between AC model Airport and the SB6121 which is well known.. return the SB and buy a Zoom I believe is much more compatible.. at least others have had better success with them.
Please give me screenshots from the airport utility showing me the setup of the TC.
