Recovery partition infected??

CAn the recovery partition on the disk of OS/x 10.9.5 get corrupted with a virus? Have some type of adware virus on the main partition. I rebooted into the recovery partition, used disk utility to erase the contents, and reinstalled OS/x. The NEW installation still shows the virus even when nothing else was done.

OS X Mavericks (10.9), 3.06GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo

Have not identified the specific virus by name, but when one selects a graphic or link,

another page pops up and show an ad or some similar service scam. If you go back to the original

link a second time, the link works correctly. There are some hints that a transparent gif is being overlayed

on the screen so that it accepts the user mouse action.

Please review the options below to determine which method is best to remove the Adware installed on your computer.

The Easy, safe, effective method:

If you are comfortable doing manual file removals use the somewhat more difficult method:

It sounds like your problem is that you're having problems with how web pages are displaying. If you did not import any applications or settings from the old system, that probably means that the problem is not due to anything installed on your computer, but is due to a compromised network. See:
