Mid-2012 MBA battery status

I have a mid-2012 MBA that I have kept mostly connected to power, but have been careful to unplug and run on battery power at least once a week. When I do this, I run it down to about 40% then reconnect. Today I noticed that the battery status has changed from "good" to "service battery". The computer works fine otherwise. Should I be concerned about this? Thanks for any help.

Then the alert most likely is because the battery's relative power capacity has declined towards that 80% figure. This suggests the battery may be failing prematurely, so you should take it in for service. I don't know if this would be covered unless you have AppleCare that has not yet expired.
