can't download CD's in itunes 12.1.1

Hello everyone,

I just updated itunes to 12.1.1 and now I can't download CD's. My OS is XP.

Here is what I have found so far:

There is no recognition that a CD is in the drive and there is no button to click on to start the download process.
I have gone into preferences and selected the setting to download CD's.
When I run the cd/dvd test I get info that the optical drive doesnot find any data or MP3 CD and that it is unable to read audio cd.
The optical drive does say that the driver is correctly installed and that the audio CD is accessed successfully.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I am having the exact same issue except I am using Win 8.1 64 bit. Same symptoms as you described, except if I close iTunes with CD in drive and reopen, it recognizes the CD. If I eject CD and insert another one it is not recognized. I have tried all the diagnostics on Apple support site and nothing has worked. All pc divers current and optical drive is working normally.

it probally is just your disc drive on that model of computer
