how do you grab a still from video

I'm trying to get a picture from a frame of video. What is the method

iMac (24-inch), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

put playhead at wanted position in your project

share/save current frame

done

You can share a still image out of the viewer, can you not? If you're shooting 4k on the go pro and working in a 1080 timeline, the video is either being scaled or cropped to fit the timeline. If you export form the timeline, you're going to get the timeline's image, not the original. If you're editing a 4k timeline with 4k video, you get a 4k still image. If you're editing a 4k timeline from 1080 video you get a terrible upscaled image.
