I Have a group set up in the address book. Checked. All contacts added once only When I add the group to the address line in mac Mail, it duplicates some people in the group and triples other. How do I fix this

Hi, I don't use it, but have seen this problem, as I recall it''s something to do with cards with different names, like John Doe & Sally Doe, having same info, like eMail, address, or such.
I delete the contacts, re entered them once only. Same thing. I suspect it has something to do with iCloud, but I just can't figure out exactly what to switch of where
