Q: Email problems

I'm persevering with Mail but finding it hard and thinking about moving to Outlook. One of the main problems I have is when mark my bulk mail as junk under the 'Btinternet' heading in the sidebar. It then moves to the 'Junk' mail folder under 'Mailboxes' but also into the deleted items folder. When i click empty junk it goes to deleted (if not already there) but then often returns and I have to repeat the process by keeping clicking empty junk or employ trash. Not sure if that all makes sense but any help would be appreciated.

    Open the Mail preferences window and select the Accounts tab. Select one of the IMAP accounts from the list on the left. Under Mailbox Behaviors, uncheck the box marked

              Store junk messages on the server

    Repeat for all other IMAP accounts, if any. Close the window and save the changes.

    Hi Linc

    Just to give you an update. Still seem to have issues. If I mark all of the emails in my 'Bulk' folder under the 'Btinternet' section in the sidebar, all of the emails move to the 'Junk' and 'trash' items under the 'mailboxes' section on the sidebar. If I then erase 'deleted' items, they all disappear from 'trash' but remain in 'junk' items. I then have to 'erase junk mail' to remove them. I hope that all makes sense and you can offer some further advice. Please let me know if you would like any further info or screenshots.

    This sounds like a problem on the server. I suggest that you sign in to the webmail page and delete the messages you want to get rid of.
