Safari keeps resizing window

While I visit several websites on my MacBook Pro, Safari keeps changing the height of the window. I can't find an apparent reason. It does NOT happen on my iMac 27 inch.

Note 1: I never use Safari full screen because I want to see things on the desktop.

Note 2: the 'anomaly' started happening since my upgrade to Yosemite. I did all updates since the upgrade.

Does anyone have this as well? How to prevent it?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB

Thanks for your answer, dominic23.

I found it, and OMG I feel stupid. 28 years of Mac and now this!!!!

On the iMac I had done 'Show tab bar', on the MacBook Pro I hadn't. So, frequently, when I opened the first extra tab on the MacBook Pro, the window stretched a bit downwards to accommodate the extra space used at the top, and when I closed the last extra tab, it went up again. So simple, but I didn't see it.

1. Safari > Preferences > Extensions

Turn off Extensions if any and launch Safari again to test.

Turn on those one by one and test.

2. Delete Safari .plist file.

Quit all applications. Click on an empty spot on the desktop to activate Finder.

Hold the “Option” key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Select “Library” from the drop down.

Library > Preferences > com.apple.Safari.plist

Right click it and select "Move to Trash". Close Finder window.

Please don’t empty the Trash.

Restart. Launch Safari.

Test Safari.

If this doesn't help:

Put back the com.apple.Safari.plist

Right click the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”.

Right click on the com.apple.Safari.plist and select “Put Back”.
