Purchasing a genuine Apple Macbook battery?

I am looking to see where I can purchase a genuine Apple battery for my early 2008 Macbook (black). I cannot find the battery on the apple store and Im reluctant of purchasing a knockoff one. Where do I purchase genuine ones?

Also, do they sell batteries at Apple retail stores?
