Forgive my ignorance, but would someone please explain how to set up imessages (with FaceTime) on my MacBook Air dock? I thought it was built in - but do not see it when I search apps. Many thanks.

Choose Applications from the Finder's Go menu and drag Messages and/or FaceTime to the Dock. If the computer's running 10.7.5 or earlier, it won't have Messages, and if it's running 10.6.8 or earlier, needs to get FaceTime from the Mac App Store.

It's called Messages, not iMessage.
Use spotlight to search for it or navigate to the Applications folder, it's in there
Thank you Niel very much for your clear instructions. It is called ichat in the version I am running. I'll look into updating! In the meantime I've successfully dropped it onto my dock:))
Thank you for your suggestion - I had already tried to spotlight search under Message, but did not find any leads there. Could be I need a lesson on how to use spotlight better in future;)
Could someone please explain where I can find the 'built in' imessage app for my MacBook Air so I can place it on my dock?
