10.8.5 and Mac Pro 5.1 - can I have 4k monitor?

Hi everyone,

I am not sure, so it's better to ask.

I have the previous model of Mac Pro (12 core 3.33GHz) with GTX 770 plugged in. The system is 10.8.5. Till now, I was using Apple Cinema Display HD 30", but I would like to change it to a better monitor with 4K resolution, if it will be possible. The question is, will it work fine with this card and under this version of OS?

I don't want to upgrade the OS, because well… I don't like how it looks like, so this version of OS is quite important for me.

The graphic card itself can run this resolution without a problem, but what a about the OSX? Everything will be OK?

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), 4.1 2.26 8c upgr. to 5.1 3.33 12c

Using 4K displays and Ultra HD TVs with Mac computers - Apple Support seems to say that with built-in hardware you are out of luck. You may be able to get special drivers from your videocard manufacturer. http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ is a good place to learn about that.

It looks that everything works fine. There is a different type of card - R9 280X, but GTX 770 is also good. So, I am confused.
