how to screen record without built in microphone

Hello,

Late 2012 mac mini. No built in internal microphone. I'd like to make some screen recordings using QuickTime. What is the best way to capture the audio? Do I have to capture the audio from the speakers using an external microphone? Is it possible to just plug an audio cable into the speaker output and connect it to the line in audio input?

Thank you!

Thank you for your response. The issue is that there is no sound when I try to screen record with Quicktime. I have not tried to use Soundflower yet. That is because it is my understanding that my model of mac mini does not have a built in microphone. Soundflower routs the sounds to the internal microphone, but there is no internal microphone to rout to. In system preferences-->sound there is no built-in input option. Any help is greatly appreciated.
