Hi... my ipod touch 5th Gen. will not charge it shows the battery in red and i will leave it for hours still nothing. Help?

My Ipod will not charge at all i tried plugging it in and also tried rebooting like some solutions say but still nothing. It shows the battery and it is in the red and nothing will change although it is plugged in for hours. Please need help.!!!

- Try another cable. The cable for 5G iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.

- If a 5G iPod

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
