apple pro res sequence from apple intermediate codec

I have some stunning footage that was imported into a project using iMovie which resulted in use of apple intermediate codec which I believe is a lossy format. If I create a new sequence and change the project and sequence codec to apple pro res 422, can the resulting exported footage be improved in any way?????? Not a technical person so excuse if this is a ridiculous question.

Sorry, no. Once you converted to AIC, that information was lost. Just changing it to ProRes doesn't make that quality loss re-appear. If you converted the original source to ProRes, yes, you would gain quality back. But converting already converted footage...no. All you will do then is add a layer of compression.
