how do i update iMovie

I installed Yosemite on my MacBook and now my iMovie isn't working correctly. I downloaded my videos from my iPhone 6 and they went into iPhoto, but iMovie is not recognizing them. Before installing Yosemite, iMovie would automatically load my videos. Do I need to upgrade my version of iMovie to work with Yosemite? If so... How do I do this and will I lose all my videos on the old version?

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

Hi upgrades do not remove data from the apps they are upgrading. Usually the update come from the apps store in your account. if using software update does not get you one, then you have to go to support/ downloads/and use Itunes update 12.1. The download and update link is at the bottom of the support page.
