Mac book pro can detect wifi but not DNS server

MMy Mac book pro will detect the wifi at school but it won't detect the DNS server meaning that I cannot access the internet! Help!

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

If the Mac connects to the Wi-Fi network but webpages do not finish loading while using Safari, it may be a DNS issue, try the following:


System Preferences>Network>Select Wi-fi on the left and click on "Advanced..">select DNS tab>add 8.8.8.8 bellow DNS servers>click on OK then Apply.


If thats not the case, please specify to us why you think the mac does not recognize DNS server.
