Computer shuts down and starts up by itself. I have 27" mid-2011 model. Has been like this for 2 years now. The hard drive and the mother board has been replaced already. No help, the problem still returns.

This morning it started again.

When I write the word "shut" to console it says:

kernel[0] Previous shutdown cause: 0

locationd[55] locationd was started after an unclean shutdown

kernel[0] Previous shutdown cause: -128

locationd[55] locationd was started after an unclean shutdown

locationd[54] locationd was started after an unclean shutdown

kernel[0] Previous shutdown cause: 3

Yosemite is installed. But the problem has happened with every operating systems.

Disk utility can't find any problems.

No usb or other devices are connected.

I deleted the file: com.apple.PowerManagement.plist (someone suggested that it may help)

I think it's not the matter of heat, because the problem occurs right away when starting my comp.

With a safe mode it sometimes stays up for hours. So could it be a problem with applications, rather than hardware?

Help is highly appreciated! 🙂

Thank you!

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

It feels to me that you may have reinstalled problematic software that was giving your Mac issues prior to the new hard drive and logic board.

Installing/upgrading your OS X system does NOT cure previous software issues with your Mac. In fact, it can make the problems worse.

You have, obviously, reinstalled something that was problematic to your Mac at an earlier time and continues to plague your Mac.

It would help us to help you if we could have some more technical info about your iMac.

If you like, please go ahead and download, install and run Etrecheck.

Etrecheck was developed as a simple Mac diagnostic report tool by a regular Apple Support forum user and technical support contributor named Etresoft.

Etrecheck is a small, unobstrusive app that compiles a static snapshot of the current state of your entire Mac hardware system and installed software.

This is a free app that has been honestly created to provided help in diagnosing issues with Macs running newer versions of OS X.

It is not malware and can be safely downloaded and installed onto your Mac.

Copy/paste and post its report here in another reply thread so that we have a complete profile of your Mac's hardware and installed software so we can all help with your Mac performance issues.

Thank You.

Thank you, I did ran etrecheck.

Here's the result.

Now my computer did shuts down even in safe mode, sometimes in seconds.

So I have to keep this short.

I do not see anything really out of the ordinary that stands out in the report.

I am incline to believe as Linc Davis does that your Mac still has some sort of hardware fault and you need to bring it in to an Apple Store, again, for a complete diagnostic for possible reason of computer failure.

Sorry.

The report is not showing anything that would be considered abnormal.

You need to bring your Mac back in to Apple.
