Can any one help I had to downgrade from Yosemite to Lion using my backup however since doing that i now cannot use CS3 (it comes up with the license error) - unfortuantely i cant re-install it as i dont have the disks or product key anymore

Soooo, what did you do with them? Did you sell your copy of CS3?
Did you ever register CS3 with Adobe? You may be able to get them to give you a new authorization. You might be able to pick up a used set of CS3 discs on eBay. Maybe.
Ah! Didn't think of that.
If lobyfairy registered the product, it will be in his/her list of items under their Adobe account. It shows the entire serial number for each product you've purchased.
