Problems sharing a project to a DVD

Problems with sharing a video I have just completed. Shared to Master file no problem creating but is 49.4GB in size. I want to put my project on a DVD to play on a recorder and therefore asked to share with DVD. Produced an image file at 2.94GB but if I burn direct to DVD it won't play only in bits and pieces and Roxio won't accept the format to copy to DVD which I have always done in the past. the image file created from FCPX was NDIF disc image which is of course useless. Obviously I can play on the computer the master file but not much use unless I can get my project on to a DVD' I use Mavericks latest updated version
