It should appear as an extra drive in Finder and maybe your desktop.
What is it you are having trouble with?
What model of DVD writer is it?

Feb 27, 2015 7:38 AM in response to Phil0124by BayMinette,There is no problem reading a formatted CD. When a blank CD is installed, it recognizes the drive "TSST corp CDDVDW SE_218CB. But only gives options to erase data on disk Quick/Completely and Eject. Eject is the one only that is possible. The only options that at the top(which can be selected are Info and Burn. Info shows Burn Support-is Unsupported. But if Info Capabilities:Open System Information is selected it shows Burn Support:-Yes(Generic Drive Support).
Is other software required to format CD/DVDs and Burn on a MAC.
The drive is a Samsung DVD Portable DVD Writer Model SE218CB which can also be used on a PC. Thank you for your reply and time.
