AirDrop has no options

I recently bought a new iPhone 6 and I was trying to share a file from it to my MacBook Pro thought AirDrop, but when I open the AirDrop folder it does not have any options at the bottom to allow for discovery or anything? I have the Bluetooth on and on the same wifi.

This is all that I see in my AirDrop.

I can share from phone to phone just not to my Mac?

Help Please!

AirDrop does not have any configuration settings. When you open AirDrop on your Mac, you enable it and make it discoverable. You should now be able to see your Mac on your iPhone when you select a file and share it via AirDrop, and it will be saved to your Mac to its Downloads folder when sent. If your Mac's account uses the same Apple ID and is signed into iCloud, the you should not see any confirmation requests and the file should just send.

I am using the same accounts on the phone and computer, so once I have on my mac the airdrop folder open and then on my phone go to the file that I want to share it does not recognize my phone and the phone does not come up in my airdrop folder.

But I can send from phone to phone no problem.

If it does not work than I may just use my dropbox.

Thank you for your reply,

When you select a photo or other file on your iPhone for sharing via AirDrop, do you see your Mac appear on your iPhone?

Honestly while this technology does have promise, it is quite unreliable in my experiences. It should be as simple as opening AirDrop and seeing the nearby systems that are available, but it often does not work. My recommendation would be to use Dropbox or another similar service for this if you cannot get it to work.
