My mail app shows new messages but new mail does not appear
Mail Icon on main screen has a bubble of new mail but when I click on the app the new mail does not appear when I click on the icon.
iPhone 5s, iOS 8.1.3

So the Mail icon on your home screen is showing new mail, but there is no new mail when you go to the app and the number doesn't clear? Notifications on apps will occasionally fail to clear when you go to the app. I would first suggest quitting and restarting the app. See the following article:

If that doesn't work, then quit the app again and reset the iPhone:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
This should get it cleared.
