Why does my HP laptop download all my music windows media player, HP connected music player, and itunes, when I only open it in itunes?

My HP lap top downloads all my music to the windows media player, my itunes, as well as HP connected. Is this taking up 3 times the space on my computer as it would if it only just used one? I only want music on my itunes, but it puts it in all 3.
