SSO (single sign on) problem

Okay, please forgive me I am on the business side of my house. I would like for some of my business partners to be able to SSO over to my enrollment application. However my IT department is telling me SSO is not supported in Safari at all. We do not use a third party to help with SSO (like PGP or Ping).

Is there a way to allow for an SSO connection from one web site to my web site on safari even if that connection needs to go through a third party (by third party I mean someone to validate authentication and/or security requirements)?
