I have recently lost my phone and I would like to get it back but cannot locate it and would like to replace my iphone5c soon as possible for school?

You can remotely erase the device and as soon as it is connected to a data network it will be wiped.
If you enabled "Find my iPhone" the device is also protected by the Activation Lock and ca not be used unless the correct AppleID and password is filled in to set it up again.
