I have just purchased a seagate central 2TB and have copied all of my music files to the public music folder. This is supposed to show up as a shared library in iTunes (version 12) but nothing is appearing? Any suggestions?

Have you dragged all the music files to the iTunes windows, and enabled "home sharing" ?

No I haven't. The hard drive is marketed as iTunes compatible and is supposed to pop up as a shared library on the right hand toolbar of iTunes but nothing shows up
iTunes/Preferences/Advanced - have you changed that to reflect the new location?
I have had the Seagate Central for almost a year and iTunes stopped recognizing the shared music folder when it upgraded from 12.0 to 12.1. From the little research I did last month, it looks like other NAS media servers were affected by the upgrade too. There might be a better solution, but downgrading iTunes back to 12.0 worked for me.
I am having the same problem. Any new solutions out there? It seems it is a 12.1 issue.
