If these are photos taken with the phone, you have to delete them on the phone. Or, if you use a program to import the pictures to your computer, you should get the option to delete them after they're importing.

I am not clear about what exactly you are doing - you said " ... it says you do not have permission to delete this items. " - What is " it "? iTunes? What version?

If you are following the instructions in the "Delete" section of this > http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201313 < - you should be in good shape.

Tell us a detailed 'Story' of what you are doing up until the error message, then include the exact words of the message.

sorry Lyssa, took a coffee break while composing. - It never ceases to amaze me how much we are required to 'read minds' here.

    No worries

The Windows folks that post here tend to be accessing their iPhones through Windows Explorer and simply dragging and dropping photos from the iPhone - like you would from a flash drive. They are then unpleasantly surprised to find they can't delete the photos, just copy them.

So I make the assumption that they are proceeding in that fashion and wait to be corrected

    1. ?
    2. What is " IT " ??
    3. A picture of the error message is helpful... but you still need to tell us the STORY of what you are doing. You know everything - we know nothing.

Did you read my previous post?

It looks like you are trying to delete files from your phone using Windows Explorer.

    You cannot do this.

Follow the instructions in the article provided by ChitlinsCC here to delete those pictures: http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201313

If you haven't found the answer yet here is what I have for you:

    - In your iPhone Settings Turn off the iCloud syncing for your photos (all the things that are under ' Photos' > "My Photo Stream" "iCloud Photot Sharing")

    - Then you can go back to your Windows PC and use Windows Explorer and Browse through each one of the iPhone's photo folders and delete any photos / videos that you want to Delete.

*** You can also use the Import Pictures and Videos option and  Click on  "Import Settings", tell Windows where to put the photos while checking the box that says "Always erase from device after importing" - that will move all the photos and videos from your iPhone and put them where you told it to AND in the same time it will remove them from your phone.

Thanks Daaani.  Had this problem too.  This worked - previous post that it isn't possible to delete via Windows Explorer is incorrect.  Just turn off all photo stream related buttons on phone and you can delete as with any other Windows file.

Techies Techies YOUR TOO SMART!  The people asking questions on here do not understand your language.  Talk OUR language please.

To DELETE YOUR PHOTOS (first make sure they are downloaded to your harddrive) then go into your iphone, turn off Cloud Sharing, then you can delete the photos viola! Turn Cloud Sharing back on if you want to.

    How HARD was THAT???????

Come back to the REAL World.

When I go into settings, photos, and turn off icloud photos sharing etc., it says all shared photos will be deleted.  I DO NOT WANT THIS.  I JUST WANT TO PLUG IN MY IPHONE USING USB TO MY COMPUTER AND SELECT CERTAIN PHOTOS TO TAKE OFF OF PHONE AND SAVE ONTO SPECIFIC FOLDERS ON MY COMPUTER USING WINDOWS EXPLORER.  This used to be a very easy function I did for years with work, operated basically like a flash drive.  I have no reason to save work photos on my personal iCloud/or phone and want to put them where they belong...

Please advise exactly which of the icloud photo sharing etc. features I am supposed to turn off and what it means by icloud photo sharing saying "turning off icloud photo sharing will delete all shared photos from our iphone...

    Thank you.
