Date and time jumps back to december 5th 2013

Had the problem for a few months now. I kinda get worried if something is wrong with my hardware or software.

Ever since Yosemite has been installed over a Maverick OS, the date and time sometimes jumps back to december 5th or 6th 2013.

If I open the preference pane of date and time, it usually jumps back to the actual date and time. Sometimes I have to tick off the box regarding automatic date and time setting and tick it back on. It is set to synch with Apple Europa (time.euro.apple.com.)

If I leave the settings pane open, the problem does not occur that much.

As a lot of problems are fixed with the resetting of PRAM, I performed the procedure to do so. But no dice...

I don't know if there is a CMOS battery that keeps the time. I opened the screen and looked on the motherboard but could not find any. So I think there is none.

I wonder why this problem occurs and why it is so random.

When I open the pane of my iMac it doesn't say "Mac OS x Yosemite" but "135122 version 10.10.2" ???

My iMac :

iMac (27-inch, medio 2010)

2,93 Ghz Intel Core i7

12GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 internal memory

ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 MB

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Hello,

starting from 15 days ago, my mac resets the data and time to 5th December 2013 22:50, every 3 hours: I'm able to take it back to the right data and time just checking off and on the apple time server synch on the Date and Time Preference Panel.

I suspect that everything started after a no safety software installation and I fear that a remote attacker may be able to execute arbitrary code on my mac: few hours ago, Google warned me about an intrusion attempt from US user (I'm in Italy) and asked me to change my password.

I tried to use the clock without synch it, I reset the PRAM and SMC, I updated the NTD withhttp://www.ntp.org patch, I re-installed (without formatting my MacBook Pro) Yosemite 10.10.4 (14E46), I run the Apple Hardware Test, but nothing changed: every 3 hours my data and time return to 5th December 2013 22:50.

Any advice?

Thank

Thanks for your reply.

Are you referring to CMOS battery replacement?

I don't think that this solution could work in my case, because the data and time changes seem to be controlled by a timer.

it happens every 3 hours and if I put the mac in stop, the timer continues to count from where it stopped before the computer stop (e.g. I have a time reset at 12, I stop the computer at 1 pm, I re-restart it at 3 pm, the new time reset happens 5 pm).

Does anyone have any alternative suggestions?

Thanks

Hi everyone, I have the exact same problem as Dirk and Pablo, more specifically, described.

I have deleted the corresponding folder in LaunchDaemons as outlined by Kavawa but the problem persists.

Any additional ideas or insights what could resolve this issue, apart from completely re-installing OS X and all applications? I suppose even restoring from Time Machine wouldn't help here.

Thanks
